Bill Perkins is an art director, production designer, development artist, layout artist and fine artist working within the animation industry in Los Angeles.

His client list includes Dreamworks, Warner bros, Industrial Light and Magic, Walt Disney Feature Animation, DNA Prods, and Character Builders.

I met him while working on “Space Jam”, and I was impressed by his handling of colour. He really encouraged me to push the boat out and not be scared of turning up the colour in my own work.

What made Bill stand out above all the duplicitous, scheming and power crazed Hollywood execs was that he remained an honest, open and polite artist doing his impressive work with dignity and calm, and a singular lack of bullshit. Quality just dripped off his brush.

He has a freelance production design studio called “High Street Studio” that he launched in 2001 with some colleagues.

Notice that each of these little location colour sketches is a new painting rather than some Photoshop pick’n'mix.

Time to work these sketches up into workable prints, methinks. :Â ¬]
