ColorBlender

A while ago, I collected several online colour tools together in one big post

Another one has crept over the horizon, called ColorBlender

ColorBlender

The site’s name is a bit misleading because rather than blending colours, ColorBlender is a machine for generating colour schemes.

To quote the site: “ColorBlender is a web-based tool for creating color palettes (here referred to as “blends”) for web design and other types of digital design.

The main feature of the tool is to have a complete “blend” of 6 matching colors created when choosing only one “base” color. This makes it very quick and easy to create a color scheme for e.g. a website, as you can instantly use the colors for text, backgrounds, links, border etc.”

You can even trawl through thousands of color swatches made by other site visitors, and sample their swatches.

The developer, Kim Jensen, declares:

ColorBlender is developed by Kim Jensen and can best be described as a “version 2.0″ of my ColorMatch 5K tool developed for the Danish 5 KB webdesign competition in 2001.

He adds a saved Google search that shows pre Firefox ColorMatch 5K websites.
This one works: ColorMatch Remix.

The new website has just won a Web 2.0 Honorable Mention.
