The problem I was having with embedding YouTube material on the page was (probably) caused by the “Visual Rich Editor” that now comes as standard with WordPress, or the associated plugin enhancemet for it called: ST Visualize Advanced Features.
The editor used to be known as TinyMCE.
One of the two, or their combination, causes the YouTube html to get mangled.
Don’t you love it when you have to learn to rewire the telephone exchange before you can make a phone call!
