My brother Paul plays the big pan pipes. He also makes the pipes.
Check his website link in the sidebar: Monxmood
Paul says of this video: Another tribute to T Monk on some pipes I made a while back. The double wholetone-scale layout, as well as giving the player equal facility in all keys, and a shorter octave, allows for a more solid construction as the “black” notes support the joins of the “white” notes, or however you want to see it
There is a twist at the end.
I say: Blow, man! Blow!

Looks tough going from the high notes to the low notes.
Now I got Blue Monk in my head.
Glad he did’t play Danny Boy.
I like the location he has chosen, too, where the curve of the pipes is echoed so strongly by the curve of the stairs behind him.
Now you’ve put Danny Boy in my head, dammit!
