Luc Desmarchelier’s Personal Work

I must be a bit slow. After months of almost daily visits to see Luc Desmarchelier’s blog Ushuaia, and admiring the beautiful concept artwork he created for Dreamworks’ feature films, I discover I had not noticed a link in the sidebar to a blog called Harmattan.
If I remember rightly, that’s the name of a very hot wind that sweeps across North Africa and drives people a bit nuts, like the Mistral in France, which has been allowed as a mitigating factor in a murderous crime passionel.)

Luc describes the purpose of the site: “This site features artwork created for my own pleasure aside from my regular activities in commercial art.”

So now that’s two visits I have to make, and I will have twice the pleasure in seeing a double helping of Luc’s work.

Here’s the link to Harmattan!

    He Mike,
Thanks for the plug. Harmattan has remained pretty confidential up till now. Au fait, tu as tout a fait raison, l’Harmattan est un vent du desert qui souffle du Sahara vers le Golfe de Guinee a travers le Sahel et l’Afrique de l’Ouest. Un beau nom qui evoque le voyage et l’aventure.
    Cheers.

Would it be OK for me to put a link in the sidebar?

I don’t know if this story will have been covered in the USA press with its legendary coverage of foreign affairs, but it looks as if the Curse of Ushuaia has struck again. (link in next comment box)

    Hi Mike,
Just back in town after a little break. Of course you can link to Harmattan, thank you for asking.
Hadn’t heard about the MS Explorer’s little adventure down there but it gives me renewed respect for Rockwell Kent, Bruce Chatwin and all the real adventurers who inspired the title of my site.
    Cheers.

] @ tim: You might prefer to address your comments to Luc directly, rather than post them here on this blog.
