Dissatisfaction with the slow and steady erosion of civil liberty by the increasingly intrusive UK government has reached a point where people are now coming together to say: “Enough”.
The newly formed Convention On Modern Liberty will take place on Saturday the 28th February 2009 in central London – The Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, London, WC1H 0AL.
I suspect that this will be a focus for a grass roots democratic movement that will remind the government who it is that rules this country, and who should be chosen to be trusted with government of this country.
There will also be parallel conventions held in Belfast, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester hosted by NO2ID in co-operation with Amnesty and Unlock Democracy.

I can’t match the eloquence of participants such as Dame Helena Kennedy QC, Brian Eno, Shami Chakrabati, Henry Porter, Peter Oborne, Cory Doctorow or Anthony Barnett, so I’ll just point you to the website and let you look and listen to their intelligent and lucid arguments.
